Trees remember everything.
The annual rings tell us the individual story of a tree’s life – this tree was
about a hundred years old. The rings record the climate and conditions as
the tree was growing up. Wider rings mean that the tree had a good year,
narrower rings that conditions were not so good, whatever they may have
been.
Did it get plenty of light or did it grow in the shade, was there a lot of rain
or sunshine?
The more “annual ring calendars” from different regions and different
varieties of trees we get to see, the more precisely we can analyze the
effects of climate change.
It is not only the annual rings that make fossilized trees such a priceless
archive of climate change, but also the isotopes stored in the wood.
Every table is a unique piece, produced in a special sand-casting technique in brass, bronze or aluminium, individually abraded and polished.
It may be used indoors and outdoors.
